What Makes Us Special

Our Mission & Purpose

The Grace Early Childhood Center exists to help parents meet their responsibility of caring for and educating their children. We come alongside parents, working with them to meet each child’s need in the most appropriate and beneficial way possible. We reinforce biblical principles and offer a biblically-integrated and developmentally-appropriate curriculum. Our Christ-centered program seeks to reflect the Christian worldview in every area of student, staff, and administrative activities.

The Grace Early Childhood Center is a ministry of Grace Polaris Church. Grace Polaris Church exists to honor God by multiplying devoted followers of Jesus through worship, community, training, and witness.

Worthington Christian School is the official K–12 education partner of the Grace Early Childhood Center. Founded by Grace Polaris Church in 1973, WCS develops the mind of Christ in students through rigorous intellectual, creative, and physical pursuits.

Our Philosophy

Positive Interactions

We believe children learn best through responsive, respectful, reciprocal relationships among teachers, peers, parents, and caregivers. Our staff members seek to model this through positive communication and interaction with parents and students, which creates strong, trusting relationships.

Biblical Teaching

We believe it’s important for children to learn about God and His plan for their lives. We do this by reading the Bible and teaching children its principles. Biblical truth is incorporated into everyday lessons and activities, and our ultimate goal is to help parents raise bright, God-loving children.

Individual Attention

We believe each child is a unique and purposeful creation of God, made in His image (Luke 18:16). We do our best to interact with each child according to his or her individual needs and strive to make each child feel special and important. Children are given the opportunity to acquire new knowledge and develop new skills by building upon knowledge and skill they already possess.

Multifaceted Learning

We believe every child is unique and therefore learns uniquely. We practice a variety of learning tools that engage all five senses (Proverbs 20:11). Children are encouraged to ask questions, experiment with new ideas, make good choices, and propose solutions to help them assume responsibility while gaining confidence to act on their biblical knowledge in personal choices and interactions with others.

Our Staff

We believe a vital component of having an effective and high-quality early childhood program is employing effective and caring staff members. We seek employees who value working as a team with both parents and colleagues. All teachers and administrative staff are nurturing Christians who understand the developmental needs of children. Regular evaluations are performed to ensure that needs are met, developmentally-appropriate experiences are provided, and a quality education is received in a safe and loving environment.

Each staff member has been approved to care for children by our licensing agency, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. Each staff member attends regular training in first aid, CPR, communicable disease recognition, child abuse prevention, and child development.
