“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
whose confidence is in him.
They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.” Jeremiah 17:8
The tree that is planted near the water thrives and grows, even when difficult seasons come because its deep roots allow for it draw renewed strength from a refreshing source. The more we choose to trust the Lord, spend time in His Word, and in His presence the deeper our roots will grow. When we are deeply rooted in the Lord, our lives are not nearly as easily shaken. When the droughts, strong winds, and scorching heat of life come, we can continue to draw strength and refreshment from the only true infinite source–Jesus. Each year we have the chance for a new beginning, to replant ourselves. Our prayer for our ECC parents is that each of you choose to plant yourselves near the life-giving waters of our Lord and grow throughout this coming year in your relationship with our Savior, no matter what lives brings your way.
