“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18
Isn’t it amazing that we welcome the “Holiday Season” with a special day dedicated to gratitude? It’s easy, though, to let our Thanksgiving celebration shift from a heartfelt focus on thankfulness to indulging in delicious food, exciting festivities, football, and the lure of early Black Friday deals. At its essence, Thanksgiving is about appreciating the blessings, guidance, and promises we receive.
God’s Word encourages us to rejoice always, pray without ceasing, and express our gratitude not just on this one designated day, but “in all circumstances.” That’s a powerful reminder that living a life of thankfulness is God’s desire for us! When we embody joy, prayer, and gratitude, we reflect the love and life of Jesus.
As Thanksgiving approaches, let’s take a moment to reflect: Are we truly rejoicing, praying, and giving thanks? Where are we directing our focus? Are we mirroring Jesus in our daily lives? It’s also a beautiful opportunity to model these values for our children, inspiring them to embrace a life filled with gratitude and joy. Together, let’s cultivate a spirit of thankfulness that lasts beyond the holiday season!
